
Today, the rise of cinematic movement in Ukraine begins with honoring Ukrainian geniuses, who managed to make a great contribution into cinematography. One, who remembers the past, is able to create a good future.
September 29, 2010 at the concert hall Ubileyny the commemorative event on 90th anniversary of a Soviet actor, film director, screenwriter and Kherson born Sergei Bondarchuk was held. Natalia Bondarchuk, the daughter of the film director, was present at the event. She thanked the local authorities and all present for assistance and shared some of her recollections from the famous artist's life. Friend of the family and peoples artiste of Ukraine, winner of the Order of Princess Olga, Raisa Nedashkovskaya expressed her admiration for nature of region where Sergei Bondarchuk was born. She proclaimed the verse I Was Thirteen, in director's name, comparing the feelings which are raised while being at the native land.
"...I felt with joy all overcome,
As though with God..."
Local authorities, public figures and cultural workers were present at the event. It should be said that a lot of young people were present at the event, what shows a great interest of youth in history of cinematography. There were a lot of congratulations and warm words of the famous creator. The head of the charitable foundation Ustin Maltsev noticed that cinematography is the history of our society, algorithms of good life are based on. "The films directed by S.Bondarchuk show us true relationships, open emotions, culture and honest life. Today is 90th anniversary of Sergei Bondarchuk and crowded auditorium, most of whom are young people, is an indicator of the fact that we appreciate our history, it means that we have a bright future".
On 95th anniversary of S. Bondarchuk they plan to make a full-length film about S.Bondarchuk's life and work and to set up a memorial bust to the famous director
